Greetings, Phi Beta Delta Colleagues!

Florida International University’s Zeta Alpha chapter and the Phi Beta Delta International Board of Directors would like to invite you to attend the 2009 Annual Conference: Coming together at the Water’s Edge:  Cooperation and Collaboration in a Changing Global Environment, which will take place April 2nd and 3rd, 2009, at the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort, located just north of Miami, Florida.

To go to the 2009 Conference Registration page, please click on this link.

If you’ve never attended a Phi Beta Delta Annual Conference and want to view some pictures and information about past events (or if you were there and you want to see if we have pictures of you!), you can view information regarding past conferences online at http://www.phibetadelta.org/index.php/Conferences/PBD-Conferences.html and http://www.flickr.com/photos/phibetadelta (click on “Slideshow” – pictures from the conferences appear after the recent NAFSA photos).

Details regarding registration and accommodations for the 2009 conference as well as instructions for those who wish to submit a proposal for a presentation paper can be found below.

See you on the beach in April!

We invite academicians, students, and professionals from all fields to submit proposals for presentation at the conference. The emphasis is to engage in discussion and professional growth with others inside and outside one’s own particular discipline.  Consequently, we encourage submissions representing all areas of study; ones that offer insights from multiple disciplines and perspectives will be particularly welcome.

The goal of the conference is to explore what it means to be a member of the community of international learners faced with the challenges—and opportunities—that arise out of a changing global environment. This exploration includes but is not limited to examining questions like these:

·         How can cooperation and collaboration expand our ability to overcome these
challenges and avail ourselves of the opportunities that exist?

·         What do these new challenges and opportunities mean for those of us who
seek greater cooperation and collaboration within our community of
        international learners?

·         What lessons have we learned from the past and what insights can we gain
from our artistic and literary expression of the human experience that can
help us face the challenges of a changing global environment?

Further details regarding the paper submission process are described in the attached “Call for Papers.” Please feel to distribute this Call to others within your academic community. Paper/presentation submissions by Phi Beta Delta members and non-members are equally welcome. Please plan to submit these no later than November 15, 2008.
