The Domestic Student Award for International Achievement
Susan Jimenez

From Beta Chapter, Cal. State Fullerton

Susan’s passion for languages and interest in business have led her to seek a double major in International Business and French. Dean’s list all the way, she studied in France at every opportunity. She has She has represented the Modern Language Department in the Inter-Club Council for the College; been President of the French Cub and volunteers as ESL assistant through project SHINE. She will be interning in Europe at a US Embassy as a marketing attaché and is studying German and Arabic in addition to her fluency in Spanish and French.

TheDavid Merchant International Student Award for Achievement
Jee-Hae Lim

Alpha Pi chapter, University of Kansas

Jee-Hae is a doctoral student at U. Kansas with a 4.0 GPA, many presentations and publications, honors and awards for her academic work already on her resume. Her colleagues have chosen to nominate her for this award as “an individual who shows charisma and desire to reach out to both international and non-international students, faculty and community members who, though diligent and busy, is unselfish in offering her friendship and assistance to those who may need it”.

She is described as modeling the spirit, independence, integrity and drive that are reflective of PBD members.

The Edward S. Blankenship Outstanding Staff Award
Michael Ediger

Alpha Pi Chapter, University of Kansas

Being Associate Director of International Student & Scholar Services is a natural fit for Michael, who has studied and taught Japanese, traveled to Asia and exhibited a lifelong interest in promoting international cooperation. In addition to his work with U.K’s international students, he conceived and produced a “Picture the World Photography Contest” which has become an annual fund-raiser for Alpha Pi. “Mike has worked hard to improve campus-community cultural interchanges that are so vital to our understanding one another in this complex world”Director, Museum Studies U.K.The Faculty Award for Outstanding Contributions to International Education:Dr. Edith Clowes

Alpha Pi Chapter, University of Kansas

As a scholar and published author, Dr. Clowes has proven academic credentials. She has researched, written about and taught Slavic languages and literature. She speaks Russian, Czech, German, French and reads Old Church Slavic. She has lived and studied in Germany , Prague , Moscow and Leningrad . Her teaching ranges from language and culture to East European business,“Dr. Clowes has an exemplary record of service as an international scholar and as a faculty member and continues to inspire our students” from John Simmons, Director, Museum Studies.
