Phi Beta Delta sadly announces the passing of two stalwart champions of the Society:  Dr. Elsa Ochoa-Fernández and Mr. Ron Moffatt. 

Ms. Ochoa-Fernández was Director of the International Center and the International Institute at California State University-San Bernadino, Gamma Lambda Chapter.  She was a member of the Phi Beta Delta Board of Directors from 1998-2003-first at Regional Vice President, then as Senior International Vice President.  To quote the Director of Advancement and CSUSB, “Elsa was instrumental in establishing the chapter of Phi Beta Delta on our campus and changed our campus culture through her leadership and commitment in the area of international scholarship.”  For that reason, CSUSB has established the Elsa Ochoa-Fernandez Phi Beta Delta Memorial Scholarship in her honor.  You can contact the Director of Advancement for further details:  https://development.csusb.edu/about.asp

 Mr. Moffatt was Director of the International Student Center at San Diego State University.  He was also the founding Chapter Coordinator of the Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Delta on his campus:  http://www.isc.sdsu.edu/current/isc_staff.htm   He served on the international board of directors of Phi Beta Delta from 1996-2000-first as Regional Vice President, then as Senior International Vice President.  An enthusiastic and tireless supporter of internationalization, Mr. Moffatt also launched Phi Beta Delta’s first website and helped us to move into the information age.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
